Horse artillerists made an integral part of cavalry. They used light cannons adapted to be pulled by horses and rode on horsebacks themselves. The hardships of their service resulted mostly from the fact that they had to both care about their horses and operate the cannons. Not infrequently they were assigned to tasks that could easily cost them lives. Many artillerists died, supporting the cavalry. This list is a tribute whose main purpose is to underline the merits of this somewhat underappreciated unit.
